Bead Making

One-Night Course- Two Sessions to Choose From!

Have fun and save money by learning to make beautiful beads from paper and fabric.  Learn several simple techniques to roll, knot, and felt your own beads and best ways to make your creations durable enough to wear.  We will cover the necessary skills to create a simple necklace or bracelet using your own one-of-a-kind beads.

Fee: $20 (Plus $8 materials fee to instructor for papers, fibres and jewelry making supplies)

Beaded Jewelry Basics

New One-Night Course

If you love beads, let's kick it up a notch to make your own beaded jewelry.  We’ll will cover the basic materials available, then learn several simple techniques to string and knot your own beaded jewelry.  You will leave with a pair of earrings and a bracelet of your own design.

Fee: $20 (Plus $12 materials fee to instructor for jewelry making supplies)

Crochet One

Once you learn the basic crochet stitches, you can make a host of useful and attractive gifts for yourself or someone special.  Start with the basic stitches of chain, single, half-double, double, triple, and slip-stitch crochet, then progress to pattern reading.  Please bring G or H- crochet hook and 1 skein (3-4 ounces) of light-colored knitting worsted yarn. Great parent-child activity.

Crochet Blankets for Babies & More

New Course

If you know chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet, you can make a beautiful baby blanket.  We’ll provide selected patterns or bring your own favorite pattern.  Learn more advanced techniques such as  the puff stitch, cluster, popcorn, and post stitches.   Word patterns and diagram pattern reading will be explained.  Please bring G hook or hook specified by your pattern and 1 skein (3-4 ounces) of light-colored knitting worsted yarn.

Glass Bead Making

Learn to create unique glass beads using a special torch to wrap hot glass around steel rods (mandrels).  We’ll work on basic bead shaping and decorative techniques in this fun and exciting course.  Repeat students will be able to refine their skills using the torch.  Please bring safety glasses to class if you have them.
Fee: $80 (plus $35 materials fee)

Pendants- Polymer Clay

New One-Night Course
Create a one-of-a-kind pendant using versatile polymer clay!  If you can bake cookies, you can learn the simple techniques needed to make your own jewelry at home.  We will cover conditioning, texturizing, shaping, coloring and baking your clay creations.  Great skill for the Cottage industry, to make for friends and family, and for cool birthday parties.

Fee: $20 (Plus $10 materials fee to instructor for polymer clay, paints, and jewelry supplies)

Pottery- Introduction

A six-week session of hand building with clay, pinch pots, coil pots, slab work, and simple glazing techniques.  Beginner and intermediate students welcome in a fun and relaxed environment.  Register early- class size limited.

Scarves- Sunpainting on Silk

One Night Course

Create a special holiday gift, or indulge yourself with a silk scarf!  Learn a simple, but elegant technique to paint on silk scarves using photo-sensitive silk paints and salts.  Layer your piece with natural elements or cut shapes and expose in the sun to create a stunning, one-of-a-kind scarf.

Fee: $20 (Plus $15 materials fee to instructor for scarf and paints)

Sewing: The Basics and Alterations

Learn how to hem, alter, sew buttons, and other sewing techniques!  Basic sewing tricks of the trade can expand your family’s wardrobe and make everything look and fit better.  We’ll cover hand-sewing and straight stitching on machines.  Please bring thread to match and a small number of garments you’d like to repair/alter to the first class.

Fee: $80 (Plus $3 materials fee to instructor for bobbins and sewing notions)
